Residents have been left to clean up the wreckage of a police car chase that ploughed through Whanganui's Aramoho cemetery and into their private property.
At 1am on Saturday, a woman who who lives at the end of McNeil St was woken by police sirens and a loud crash.
"A car came screaming up the cemetery at what seemed like 100km/h and through our driveway and hit our front post and a second post," she told the Chronicle.
"Then the police caught them and arrested them - and now we are responsible for the damage."
Her property can be accessed only through the cemetery, and she said she was fed up with the amount of wreckage at the burial ground.
