A stolen truck has rammed into three police cars as a wanted driver made a bid to escape overnight.
Police said a truck had been reported stolen in Christchurch and was being tracked by GPS.
It had ended up parked in the suburb of Phillipstown at 5.30am.
A police spokeswoman said when police arrived to recover the stolen vehicle a man fled, ploughing into three stationary police cars as he made his getaway.
The truck was tracked to Linwood where cordons were put in place on nearby streets.
The wanted driver was found and arrested, said the spokeswoman.
