A 41-year-old man has appeared in court today, following reports of indecent assaults of children at a Queenstown swimming pool.

The man, from Tauranga, is accused of making the assaults in the Lazy River area of Alpine Aqualand over the past week, between Thursday, June 8 and Wednesday, June 14.

Police received the first report of the incidents yesterday. The man was arrested at the pool yesterday afternoon, and is now facing three charges of indecent assault of a child under 12.

Officers believe the man was the sole offender, and are not seeking anyone else in relation to the incidents.

The victims and their families are receiving ongoing support.

A spokesperson for Queenstown Police said officers were speaking to other concerned parents.

Any parents or guardians who have concerns are being encouraged to come to the station or to call 03 441 1600.
