A 60-year-old man has died after crashing into a paddock in Himatangi Beach.

The vehicle was only discovered just after 8am this morning but police believe the crash happened overnight.

Road Policing manager Inspector Brett Calkin said investigations were ongoing but speed was believed to be a factor.

Early indications also suggest the driver was not wearing a seatbelt.

"No-one wants to see another family have to deal with the loss of a loved one on our roads.

This is a timely reminder for everyone to please buckle up, slow down and drive to the conditions."

More to come.
