A pig that was on the loose on Auckland's Northwestern Motorway during peak hour has now been captured.
The animal was spotted between Rosebank and Patiki Rds.
A witness said traffic was heavy and people stopped to take photos of it.
The woman told the Herald: "I looked ahead and I thought it was a dog. No one was out of the car trying to herd it. It kept trying to wander into the middle of the road. Three cars were trying to herd it.
"It looked like a wild boar. It was a brown coloured hairy pig, quite large."
There was now an SPCA rescue vehicle at the scene.
A police spokeswoman said the pig was caught by members of the public around 4pm.
Officers waited with the pig until animal control arrived.
