A man has appeared in court today on a raft of horrific child abuse charges.
A total of 47 charges have been laid against a 36-year-old, including rape, sexual violation, indecent assault, grievous bodily harm, neglect and kidnapping, relating to four children.
The charges date between 2000 and April 2014 and are alleged to have occurred in several towns in Marlborough and Tasman.
At Christchurch District Court, the man appeared from custody.
Judge Tom Gilbert granted interim name suppression and remanded him in custody without plea until July 7.
Defence counsel Phil Shamy made no application for bail.
