A father and son have been accused of stealing more than a dozen cows and calves from a Wanganui farmer late last year.
Ronald Hough, 54, and Joseph Kain Hough, 29, appeared in the Whanganui District Court on Tuesday on 14 charges each of stealing cattle, each valued between $400 and $1100, between November 30 and December 18 last year. Both pleaded not guilty to one charge and entered no pleas to the remaining 13.
Ronald Hough was also charged with threatening behaviour. He pleaded not guilty to this charge.
Lawyer Anna Brosnahan told the court the matter could not be resolved on Tuesday and had to go to a defended hearing before a judge.
The pair were remanded on bail pending an administrative hearing on December 17.
