A former treasurer for Plunket has been given a prison sentence for defrauding the organisation.

At the Tauranga District Court, Michelle Hyndman pleaded guilty to 41 charges relating to offending over a four year period.

During that time the 38-year-old stole more than $155,000.

Judge Christopher Harding has ordered she serves a two and a half year jail term and pay Plunket $25,000 in reparations.
