A 28-year-old forestry worker has been killed in a logging accident in Nelson this afternoon.
Police said the man died after being pinned between two trees at a private forestry site off Foxhill Cemetery Road south of Nelson about midday.
He was discovered by a colleague.
CPR was performed on the man, but he died at the scene, police said.
Initial inquiries revealed the man had been working alone on a hauler.
Victim Support was on the scene helping workers who were present and an investigation into the accident was underway.
Murupara father David Charles Beamsley, 63, died on Tuesday afternoon in what was to be a tree felling accident in Kaingaroa Forest.
Mr Beamsley was the eighth forestry worker to be killed in New Zealand this year.
