A 25 year-old Mt Albert man has been arrested and charged with murdering 24 year-old Nathan Pukeroa who died in Renton Rd, Mt Albert, a week ago.
The accused has also been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm in relation to Mr Pukeroa's 22-year-old associate who was seriously injured during the incident.
Detective Inspector Chris Cahill said police had also found what was believed to be the murder weapon.
"Today's development is a very welcome one but there's still a lot of investigative and background work to do," he said.
