Mozzie moves north

The feared southern saltmarsh mosquito has spread to Kaipara Harbour, northwest of Auckland.

The Health Ministry announced last night that larvae of the mosquito had been in the Rodney District area of the harbour last week during routine surveillance.

Australian laboratories have confirmed the find, and since the samples were sent there for testing, adult mosquitoes have also been found.
