This was good news, as it meant New Zealand was a reasonably safe place, he said.
"Any airline that was flying direct to America from its point of departure would be asked, if it was in a risk area, to implement some additional procedures, but New Zealand has not been asked at this stage."
2. 'Illegal' Pistorius footage emerges

Newly released video footage shows Oscar Pistorius participating in a re-enactment of how he says he fatally shot girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp and then carried her out of a toilet cubicle in his home.
Australian broadcaster Channel Seven showed the footage last night, a day before the trial resumes. That prompted criticism from a lawyer for the double-amputee athlete who said the re-enactment was made with the help of a US-based company last year as part of the defence team's trial preparations.
In the video, Pistorius is seen walking on his stumps with an arm outstretched and fist clenched, as though holding a gun. It also shows Pistorius carrying a woman - thought to be his sister. It is unclear where the re-enactment was filmed.
The Paralympian has said he carried Steenkamp after mistakenly shooting her through a closed toilet door because he thought there was an intruder in his home.
3. More celebrities detail Harris abuse

An English television presenter has described how convicted predator Rolf Harris groped her on live television while she was interviewing him in the mid-1990s.
Vanessa Feltz says she was assaulted by Harris when filming an "on-the-bed" interview for Channel 4's Big Breakfast show in 1996. The 52-year-old, who now has a BBC radio show, waived her right to anonymity in the hope of encouraging other women to speak out. Feltz told the Sunday Express that when Harris put his hand inside her knickers almost 20 years ago, she was "absolutely staggered".
"Somehow I knew I had to do something but I was in the middle of an interview on live television with one of the most famous men in the country," she said.
"What do you do? Stop and tell the viewers: 'Rolf Harris is assaulting me'? I could not do that.
"I was also conscious that we had a lot of children watching and I could not say anything which would upset them," the presenter said. She believes Harris knew exactly what he was doing "and he was getting excited about it ... doing what he was doing while he was on live television".
4. Rugby death: Tears for 'gentle giant'
Jordan Kemp
A fatal rugby injury has devastated a New Zealand family, sent shockwaves through a tight-knit Northland community and re-emphasised risks associated with the national game.
Otamatea Hawks hooker Jordan Kemp, 17, died yesterday afternoon after a suspected head clash during a Whangarei club rugby game on Saturday.
He was airlifted to Auckland City Hospital where his large network of friends and family were keeping vigil and waiting for relatives - including his older brother Joseph, who has cerebral palsy, and maternal grandparents - to arrive from Brisbane. They did not make it in time to say goodbye.
Jordan, the triplet brother of Crishla and Michaela and son of Tania Cook and Aaron Kemp, was playing in the senior reserves game against Old Boys Marist when the injury occurred about 15 minutes before the final whistle.
5. Swimmer's close shave with great white shark
A man who was attacked by a great white shark off a Southern California beach is describing how quickly a routine swim turned into a bloody nightmare.
Steven Robles was in the water off Manhattan Beach near Los Angeles when the 7-foot (2.1-metre)-long juvenile shark suddenly appeared on Saturday morning.
He told KABC-TV that the shark looked at him and "locked into my chest."
Robles was taken to shore and by Sunday morning had been released from the hospital.
Witnesses said the shark had been hooked by a fisherman on a nearby pier and was thrashing in the water for more than 30 minutes before biting Robles about 300 yards (275 meters) off shore.
