More referees sought for course

The Wairarapa-Bush Rugby Referees Association wants to double the intake for the associate referees course they are holding at the Greytown RFC on Wednesday, May 27.
Seecretary Peter Debney said 10 people from South Wairarapa clubs had been confirmed for the course and another 10 could be catered for.
A Rugby Smart safety presentation will be made by David Walsh, referees education officer for the Wellington, Horowhenua-Kapiti and Wairarapa-Bush regions, from 6pm to 6.30pm and it will be followed by a two-hour presentation covering basic laws and variations thereof.
The associate referees concept is being introduced to increase the number of referees able to officiate at club level in the Wairarapa-Bush union.
This coming weekend sees the WBRRA having their annual exchange with Marlborough and all three Marlborough referees involved will be officiating in matches played at Eketahuna Making the trip down south from here are Chris Jefferies, Tony Lyford and Ed Wallace
The Manawatu secondary schoolgirls 10-a-side rugby pre-season tournament
is to be played at the Colombo road and Jean street grounds in Masterton on Sunday with three Wairarapa-Bush teams, two from, the Barbnarians and one from Kuranui, involved. They will face opposition from Tararua-St Peters, Fielding Agricultural High School, Dannevirke, Freyberg and Palmerston North Girls High School.
Games will be played 15 minutes each way with start times of 1pm, 1.45pm and 2.30pm.
