Immigration Minister Michael Woodhouse is being asked to intervene and save a group of Indian students from deportation.
The group of nine have been caught up in a fraudulent visa scam, after paying thousands to a dodgy outfit in India.
Lawyer Alastair McClymont said it wouldn't be fair to send
them all home at this stage of the game.
If they were deported they would lose their money and end up returning to India without a qualification, he said.
At the same time, Mr McClymont said the schools had banked their fees and the fraudster back in India had made his money too.
