Lotto’s $23 million Powerball jackpot has been struck by a single ticket from New Plymouth tonight.
20 people have now become multi-millionaires via Lotto wins this year.
Lotto NZ’s Christmas promotion includes $6m in extra prizes, with a $1m top prize.
One lucky Lotto player from New Plymouth has just scooped more than $23 million.
It is the fifth-largest prize struck this year and they are the 20th punter to hit the jackpot.
The winning ticket is worth a cool $23,333,333 – comprised of winning Powerball and a one-thirdshare of Division One.
It was sold at Woolworths Spotswood in New Plymouth.
Two other tickets without the Powerball number share the rest of Division One and are each worth $333,333. They were sold at Woolworths Eastgate in Christchurch and Pak’nSave Papamoa in Papamoa.
Strike Four was not struck and rolls over to Wednesday night, where it will be worth a whopping $1.1m.
The winning numbers were 14, 32, 21, 24, 17, and 10. The Bonus Ball was 4 and the Powerball was 10.
Lotto NZ’s Christmas promotion kicked off on Sunday, with $6 million in extra prizes to be won.
One prize of $1 million and 100 prizes of $50,000 are up for grabs, with all Triple Dip tickets bought between Sunday, December 8 and Saturday, December 28 set to be in the draw with a chance to win.
Lotto NZ said it took responsible gambling seriously and reminded customers gifting its products as presents over the Christmas period to only gift them to adults.
What to do if you win
Ticketholders can see immediately if they have won if they purchased a ticket through MyLotto. Prizes of $1000 or less are automatically credited to the account.
For prizes of more than $1000, winners have to fill in an online prize form.
Results are available immediately after the live draws on TVNZ 1, which take place on Wednesday and Saturday nights.
Winners with a physical ticket must still visit a Lotto retailer to claim their prize.
For the Powerball jackpot to be claimed, a ticket-holder must get all six Lotto numbers correct as well as the added Powerball number.
If the jackpot is not claimed, it will roll over each draw until it is won, or reaches the must-be-won limit.
If more than one person wins Powerball, the jackpot is shared equally between the winning tickets.
A total of 20 punters have now struck the jackpot in 2024 and been crowned multimillionaires. Lotto last week said 54 people had become millionaires this year.
