Liam in German hospital

Child cancer sufferer Liam Williams-Holloway has been moved from an alternative treatment clinic in Mexico to a conventional hospital in Germany. But it is not known if the 4-year-old is receiving chemotherapy.

Wanaka family friend Jude Battson last night said that the youngster, his parents - Brendan Holloway and Trena Williams - and siblings were now in a German hospital wing leased by the Tijuana clinic.

She would not say whether he was receiving chemotherapy.

Jude Battson said the family went to Germany because the Mexican clinic was opening another clinic there.

"As Liam was only half way through his treatment it was decided that Brendan and Liam would go over [to Germany] for him to continue his treatment.

"When the staff in Germany are trained, they will go back to Tijuana and the plan is for Brendan and Trena and the family to go back there as well.

"I am confirming that they are in Germany but I have no comment on the chemotherapy or Liam's state of health."

The youngster and his father left about 10 days before Christmas, she said.

TV3 last night said Liam was undergoing chemotherapy at the hospital and that his health had deteriorated drastically.

The case became headlines when Liam's parents took him into hiding last February after the Family Court tried to make them resume the chemotherapy they said was ravaging his body.
