AMI Stadium may be the next high-profile casualty of the Christchurch earthquakes.

Citing sources, The Press newspaper reported the ground was more seriously damaged than previously disclosed.

One source said the ground was "knackered" and that there was no way the Crusaders super rugby team would be able to play there next year.

The Christchurch City Council, which owns the ground, has refused requests for information.
