Police have made inquiries to Interpol about an Asian couple at the centre of a murder investigation.
So far police have been able to find only two people who knew Korean national Chiyoko Hoysoya, who was found dead in her car in Drury last week.
Detective Sergeant
Dave Lynch said they were making inquiries about Mrs Hoysoya and her Japanese husband, Yukikatesli Hoysoya, through Interpol and overseas liaison posts.
"We know very little about them," he said. "We do believe there are a few other people out there who have had dealings with them, be it business, or personal."
Mr Hoysoya has been charged with assault but the police investigation continues. The 57-year-old has been remanded in custody for a psychiatric report.
The couple had been living in New Zealand for 18 months, mainly at the Spencer on Byron hotel in Takapuna.
Mr Lynch said they did not appear to have any employment or companies here.
Police found the body of 55-year-old Mrs Hoysoya - also known as Chon Kim - in their white 1999 Japanese four-door car, registration YA5770, on Drury Hills Rd around 4pm last Wednesday.
Mr Hoysoya was found nearby and was taken to hospital for "observation", although Mr Lynch said he did not have any injuries.
He said he believed the couple had been driving around the Drury area - which they did not appear to know - since the day before. Police wanted public assistance to trace the car's movements.
There were sightings of the vehicle at the Drury Mobil Service Station on Tuesday around 9pm. It was seen again on Wednesday on Waihoehoe Rd in Drury at 3pm.
