A 20-year-old Putaruru man with head and leg injuries was winched from the bush in the Urewera country about 10:30am this morning and flown to Rotorua Hospital.
The man was injured in the Ohutu Stream, 65km east of Rotorua.
He'd been injured in a fall last night but the alarm was raised only this morning when a member of the group walked out of the area.
The man is reportedly in a comfortable condition.
