Impact of February storm

$11.6m deficit Horizons Regional Council's annual report says an $11.6 million deficit for the year ended June is "almost entirely the impact of the February storm".

Some of the money will be recoverable from insurance policies and a possible $8 million from the Government, but the repair bill has already added 8 per cent to rates for this financial year. The council was due to discuss the draft report yesterday.
