Cooking is the agenda for children lucky enough to have secured a spot in the Greytown Library holiday programme.
Librarian Jannelle Preston said there are two workshops running as part of the library programme, the first for kids aged from 8 to 12.
The eight participants will be cooking a two-course meal
which is likely to be meatballs and pasta, and a fruit crumble; but has not been confirmed.
Mrs Preston said the participants will be laying a table and aiming to eat at noon after a 10am start.
She said it is lucky as the library is situated in the town hall, which has all the facilities needed including an oven, refrigerator and microwave.
Greytown Hotel chef Ian Preston will be teaching the children on April 27.
The second programme is cupcake decorating, for 5 to 7-year-olds, on April 21 from 10am.
Mrs Preston said: "We've never done anything like this before."
Spaces for the cupcake decorating are nearly full and the two-course meal workshop is full.
"Depending how well it goes we may look at doing it again," she said.
Carterton Library will be running an Easter-themed week for the first half of their school holiday programme. Workshops start at 10am every day and include a variety of activities.
Head librarian Ewan Hyde said about 30 to 40 children turn out to each session but it depends on the weather.
The construction of the new library hasn't hindered the holiday programme, but means the workshops will be held at St Johns Hall also in Holloway St.
In week two, Anzac will be the main theme along with some treats and making sock puppets.
District librarian for South Wairarapa, Shirley Nightingale, said Featherston Library will be doing crafts and activities, probably based around Easter, on April 21 and 29 starting at 10.30am. On April 29, activities won't start until 2.30pm.
"They're usually pretty popular," she said.
She said Martinborough Library isn't having anything these holidays as it lacks the dedicated staff and the space but it is expecting to be busy next holidays.
Masterton District Library is running three workshops during the school holidays.
Anzac & Heroes is on April 20 and children will be able to make their own poppy.
On April 27, the library will be having Ukulele Jam Session, so bring along an instrument if you have one.
A presentation called Listen Up, will be on April 29, about safe noise levels.
All Masterton library workshops start at 10.30 and are free.
