The Anderson twins will be doing battle against each other in this year's national women's hockey league.
Former St Matthew's Collegiate players Jenna and Kristy Anderson have gone different paths to further their education, Jenna to Massey University in Wellington and Kristy also to Massey University but based in PalmerstonNorth.
And the 18-year-olds have made their province's 2012 national league squads, Jenna for Capital and Kristy for Central, something which will create an interesting situation for proud parents, former Wairarapa-Bush skipper Graeme "Bunter" Anderson and his wife Mary, when the two teams meet on August 18.
"I guess we will sit back and enjoy the action without cheering on either side," Graeme Anderson said from his Masterton home yesterday.
"They both have a competitive streak though, neither of them will want to lose to the other."
Jenna Anderson was a star performer for the New Zealand under-18s last year and Kristy Anderson also came close to making that side.
They were both part of the St Matthew's Collegiate team which finished third to Wairarapa College at the national Federation Cup tournament and then turned the tables on them in the final of the Wellington premier division secondary schools competition decider.
The highlight on the local hockey front this weekend will be the Wellington premier division men's interclub match between Dalefield and Indians, which will be played at Clareville tomorrow, starting at 2.45pm.
Chances are these two teams will be involved in the playoff for fifth and sixth a little further down the track, the loser of which could face a promotion-relegation fixture at the end of the season.
Dalefield were on the end of a decent beating by competition leaders Hutt last weekend but have produced some of their best efforts this season at home.
