A gunman is still on the loose after a man was shot three times in Palmerston North last night.
A 28-year-old local man was taken to hospital with gunshot wounds to his stomach, but police say he knew the shooter.
Detective Sergeant Grayson Joines say they have spoken
to a number of witnesses as they search for the shooter, but the public is not at risk.
Officers were called to Ronberg St in the suburb of Highbury about 5.15pm yesterday.
The victim has since had surgery and his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
