The Miramar and Lower Hutt California Home and Garden centres in Wellington have each been fined $250 for opening on Good Friday.
Wellington District Court Judge John Walker was told they were seen by a Department of Labour inspector with their doors open, the public entering and goods for sale on the morning of Good Friday. The stores had been warned by the department but opened because they felt they had no choice because of competition, the court was told.
