Fruit and veg celebrity dies

New Zealand's Mr Fruit and Veg, Jack Forsyth, has died in Auckland.

Mr Forsyth, 78, was known for his weekly rapid-fire produce reports on National Radio.

A long-time auctioneer with Turners and Growers, he was managing director of the Wellington branch for 25 years.

Mr Forsyth was a rugby referee for 40 years and attributed his distinctive radio style to legendary rugby commentator Winston McCarthy.
