Foxton man Kally Joseph Taylor, 39, appears in the Palmerston North District Court.

A Foxton man accused of robbing the same elderly woman twice, raping her the second time, has denied all charges.

Kally Joseph Taylor, 39, appeared in the Palmerston North District Court this morning, where defence lawyer Tony Thackery entered not guilty pleas.

Judge Jim Large remanded Taylor in custody to reappear in April. He also granted a media application to take the defendant's photo.

Taylor is charged that on October 14, 2017 he indecently assaulted the elderly woman, detained her without her consent to be confined, robbed her of her vehicle while armed with a knife and unlawfully used her bank card.

He is further charged with entering the residential home on January 5 with intent to commit a crime, raping an elderly woman, sexually violating her by unlawful sexual connection, attempting to sexually violate her, threatening to kill the woman, detaining the woman without her consent to be confined, unlawfully using her bank card and robbing the woman of her vehicle, valued at $7000.

Thackery told Judge Large this morning he initially sought a remand without plea as the case had progressed very little.

He had only been receiving "batches" of information and sought a remand.

After a discussion between Taylor and his lawyer, not guilty pleas were entered.
