Save Three crews of firefighters battled a blaze in a maintenance building at Christchurch International Airport about noon.
Fire Communications Centre shift manager Andrew Norris said firefighting crews from Harewood and St Albans were sent to the airport at 12.04pm.
They were met by firefighters based at the airport and extinguished
the blaze before it could spread to other buildings.
"On arrival, the fire was well involved,'' Norris said.
Christchurch Airport communications manger Yvonne Densem said the fire broke out in the Christchurch Engine Centre, an airport maintenance building.
