Dunedin police snap $40,000 in three hours

Police in Dunedin nabbed 415 speeding drivers on one road in three hours yesterday, raking in at least $40,000 in fines and booking a motorists every 20 seconds on average.

The figures "flabbergasted" police, who had warned motorists to slow down for the city's unseasonable wet weather.

They said the mobile speed camera was parked in Caversham Valley Rd from 1.30 pm in a 50 km/h speed limit area.

The 415 motorists where photographed doing between 63 km/h and 77 km/h. All will receive tickets ranging from about $90 to $200.
