DAZZLING diamonds join eight other items to be auctioned off at a black tie mayoral ball and fundraising event at Copthorne Hotel and Resort Solway Park next month, with proceeds to the Life Education Trust.
Masterton jeweller Bryan Clarke, of Clarke's Jewellers, donated a gold and silver-toned Citizen Eco-Drive ladies dress
watch set with 20 diamonds and containing a mother of pearl face.
"You never have to replace the battery, the internal batteries are recharged by any type of light," Mr Clarke said. He donated the watch "mainly because I think Bob (Francis) has been one of the best mayors we've ever had and I believe that the Life Education Trust is a very worthwhile organisation".
Masterton jewellery manufacturer Karen Aitkenhead made the other donation, a 0.3 carat round diamond. "I wanted to give something back to the Wairarapa. I'm always really happy to help community projects," she said.
The two jewellers covered approximately half of the price of the goods, with the trust making up the difference.
Life Education Trust committee member Mary Bell said that the money raised from the auction will go towards purchasing a new mobile classroom.
"I just think it's just magic having these things given to us," she said.
