Dan Carter's clothing stores to shut

All Black Dan Carter is set to close the second and third of his Gas Italian clothing stores.

The stores are in Christchurch and Mount Maunganui.

Mr Carter's business partner Rhys Brooking says they will close in the coming weeks, leaving only the Wellington store open.

Chief executive of the Newmarket Business Association in Auckland, Cameron Brewer, has been quick to point out the closures reflect the state of the economy, not Mr Carter's business acumen.

The Gas outlet in Newmarket closed earlier this year, but the premises have reopened with the new shop labelled B Original.

It is a female fashion store in which Mr Carter and Mr Brooking have an interest.
