National MP Simon Bridges and his family has tested positive for Covid-19.

Bridges, the second known MP to have contracted the virus, says he intends to be actively involved at Parliament remotely, though he and his family will be isolating at home until this coming weekend.

"My family and I have all tested positive for Covid," Bridges told the Bay of Plenty Times.

"While we haven't all been 100 per cent, it hasn't been too bad."

Bridges said both he and his wife Natalie still have a lot of computer work and Zoom sessions to attend during the week.

"As many will know from lockdowns before and their own Covid experiences, one of the biggest issues is isolating, keeping young ones happy and busy and enjoying time with them and yet also continuing to stay engaged with work."

Bridges, former National Party leader and current National Party spokesperson for finance and infrastructure, will continue to be present in Parliament this week — albeit not in person.

"For most of this week I intend to also be actively involved at Parliament even though remotely," Bridges said.

"Hopefully each day I will get to ask the Finance Minister questions at Question Time via zoom about the economic challenges we have as a country.

"This will be a new experience for both of us I think. Hopefully Mr Mallard won't mute me too much."

Last week Environment Minister David Parker reported testing positive, and said he had minor symptoms and was "not feeling too bad".

He had not been in the Beehive since the previous week, so was not with other MPs or staff while infectious, he said.
