Court appearance in Spreydon murder case

An unemployed Christchurch man has appeared in court charged with the murder of his elderly neighbour.

Michael Earl Young, 45, was arrested after the body of 67-year-old Dennis Stephen was found at a house in the Christchurch suburb of Spreydon yesterday.

Young has been remanded in custody to await a psychiatric assessment and report.
