The convicted child sex offender accused of going on the run after cutting off his electronic monitoring bracelet has pleaded not guilty to charges against him at a hearing this morning.
Daniel Livingstone appeared in the Hutt Valley District Court today via video link, where he was charged with breachingthe conditions of his release.
Livingstone allegedly went on the run from his Upper Hutt home early last Thursday, after removing his electronic monitoring bracelet.
He was found at the Naenae shops in the Hutt Valley on Friday afternoon after police were called by a member of the public.
At today's hearing before Judge John Walker, Livingstone refused his right to a lawyer, instead opting to represent himself.
In 2006, Livingstone was jailed for eight years for abducting, raping and threatening to kill a 10-year-old girl.
He did not get parole and was released in 2014 when his sentence ended, but was subject to an electronic supervision order requiring him to wear a GPS monitoring anklet.
