Dalefield are looking to notch their first win of the season when they play a double header in the Wellington premier division men's hockey competition this weekend. Tomorrow will see them front up to competition leaders Hutt at Clareville while on Sunday morning they will travel over the hill to playHarbour City-Tawa at the National Hockey Stadium in Wellington. While delighted with the continued improvement made by Dalefield through the 2007 season coach Mark Fenwick concedes victory over Hutt would have to be considered unlikely but the Harbour City-Tawa match is an entirely different story. Harbour City-Tawa have had just the two wins this season and are guaranteed to be playing Dalefield in the playoff for fifth and sixth, the loser of which will then become involved in a promotion-relegation match with the top division one side & or at least the best placed of those clubs who don't already have a spot in the premier division grade. With that in mind Fenwick is keen for Dalefield to win Sunday's encounter if only to get a psychological advantage over their opposition. "It would be nice to have them on the back foot going into the playoffs, anything to dent their confidence has to be a good thing," he said. Fenwick said Dalefield's intention would be to take the game to HCT by playing a controlled but aggressive style of hockey. "We have to let them know we mean business right from the word go, we won't be sitting back and waiting for them to come to us," he said. The bottom-placed Dalefield women's team shouldn't fail on the score of motivation tomorrow either as they too will meet the team they will face in their Wellington premier division playoff match for fifth and sixth later in the month, in this instance Hutt. Hutt goes into the Clareville game having won four of their 15 matches to date and drawn one while Dalefield has had the two wins and one draw.
