Three Wairarapa supermarket workers have won prizes at the Foodstuffs Wellington Training Awards in Wellington last weekend.
Aaron Franklin, of New World Carterton, has won the Foodstuffs management programme achievement award.
The programme has been designed by Foodstuffs Wellington to help build and train a talent pool of highly skilledpeople who will drive engagement and performance at every level of the business and become future leaders.
Mr Franklin has been in the supermarket industry for 10 years - working seven years at New World Pahiatua and three years at New World Carterton.
"Produce is in the blood as my grandfather was a greengrocer in Dannevirke," he said. He said he was passionate about supplying fresh produce that was good value for the customers.
New World Carterton owner-operator Katie Yates said this was a well deserved win for Mr Franklin, who has previously completed the supervisory development programme and won the 2009 top student award.
Susan Large, of Pak'n Save Masterton, was awarded trainer of the year which recognises people within Foodstuffs who have made a positive impact on their businesses, customers and staff through the training support and initiatives they have implemented in the workplace.
