Celtic produced a sensational comeback to claim a last minute 39-37 victory over St Matthew's in a pulsating Premier 1 club netball match at the Colombo Road courts in Masterton on Saturday morning. The schoolgirls looked to have the game well and truly under control as they took an eight-goal leadmidway through the third quarter. However, Celtic, in their first year in the top flight, slowly started to turn the tide as their young opponents began to fade under pressure in the final stanza. To their credit St Matthew's kept fighting and were only overhauled in the final minute after giving up another costly turnover that left them still seeking their first win of the season. Celtic, in turn, remains unbeaten after accounting for Sports Arena Carterton last weekend. In the week's other matches Gladstone also kept their perfect record intact after holding off the challenge of Kuranui to win 35-24 in a low scoring Friday night affair. Though Salute Greytown had no trouble finding the hoop as they romped home 56-33 over Carterton Red. Wairarapa College pushed hard but came up just short, going down 31-35 to Sports Arena Carterton on Saturday afternoon. Earlier in the week, Harcourts 1 comfortably dispatched club mates Harcourts 2 63-24.
