A Gisborne woman who made a cake laced with cannabis for her workmates was today jailed for six months.
Mary Ngarimu, 47, pack-house grader, was convicted in Gisborne District Court of supplying cannabis oil to 32 packhouse staff.
Judge Tony Adeane said a packhouse complete with heavy machinery was a dangerous place in which to intoxicate people.
Defence counsel Vicki Thorpe said Ngarimu made the cake with butter she knew was infused with cannabis.
Ngarimu was genuinely remorseful and lost her job and the respect of her colleagues.
Ngarimu had never used cannabis before and had no previous convictions.
