Oamaru police are investigating a second attempted child abduction in less than four weeks.
A police spokeswoman confirmed that on Saturday afternoon an 11-year-old boy evaded a man who tried to get him into a van at the intersection of Pembroke St and Raglan St, Oamaru.
In a statement, SergeantBlair Wilkinson, of Oamaru, said the boy did not know the man.
Detective Kevin Kirkman, of Oamaru, who is investigating the alleged attempted abduction, believed the two incidents were not linked.
On August 17, it was alleged a 12-year-old girl was walking on Solway St towards Salesyard Rd, Oamaru, when she was stopped by a man who tried to get her into his red utility vehicle.
Wilkinson said police were yet to identify the van and man involved in the latest alleged attempted abduction.
The man was described as Caucasian, but with olive skin.
