Bomb threat no joke for passenger facing trial

A 43-year-old Motueka man will face trial for saying he had a bomb in his luggage when he checked in at Nelson Airport. After a depositions hearing in the Nelson District Court, Colin Chapman, an apple-picker, denied a charge of providing information knowing it was false.

His lawyer said the comment was a joke.

Chapman was remanded at large until September 29.
