Bomb threat at US Embassy in Wellington

The United States Embassy in central Wellington was evacuated this morning after a "non-specific" bomb threat, police said.

Streets around the embassy in Thorndon were cordoned and road blocks put in place after the threat, which was made before staff arrived at work for the day.

The threat caused delays for morning traffic in the city.

Police said further details would be released later.
