Auckland transport facilities to get funding increase

Auckland's passenger transport and community facilities are about to receive a funding increase after the city council achieved a $16.1 million annual operating surplus - $3.5 million better than expected.

The result was achieved through increased revenue and efficiency savings.

Community facilities, a fund that provides for grants community organisations, will get an additional $1 million and passenger transport will get $2 million.

The Auckland Regional Transport Network will receive $500,000.
