The Black Widow's son has appeared in Christchurch District Court today via video link.

The now 25-year-old Adam Kearns is the son of Helen Milner, who is serving a life sentence for the murder of her husband in 2009.

Kearns faces a charge of causing death in a car crash while under the influence of drugs.

In December, a car allegedly driven by Kearns crashed into two parked cars.

His passenger, 24-year-old Nicholas Morrison died as a result.

A 25-year-old woman suffered serious injuries.

Kearns will reappear via video link on October 31.
