The annual Costume Institute gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art is no doubt the biggest event on the New York fashion calendar. Life & Style Editor Nicky Park has lovingly gazed at every single picture from this year's red carpet to bring you this fashion roundup of hits, misses and trends.
Power Couples We spotted oodles of cute and cuddly hand-holding at this year's Met Gala. The real-life rom-com couple that prompted the biggest gush was the glittering Gossip Girl star Blake Lively and her funnyman, Ryan Reynolds, both in Gucci. Johnny Depp stood out with his creative combo featuring a cane, alongside his beautiful beau Amber Heard. Jay-Z and Beyonce always blow our minds, the Beckhams were doing their best Ken and Barbie impression and newlyweds Kimye redeemed themselves after last year's awful floral, long-sleeved gown blunder.

Pretty in Pink
The power of pink couldn't be missed on the Met Gala red carpet. There was lashings of the hue in all its flavours - from powdery pastels on the likes of Rachel McAdams and supermodel Naomi Campbell to bolder pops on Reese Witherspoon and Emma Stone.

Worst Dressed It's not our favourite job to name and shame, but everyone loves checking out the not so hot of the night. We were surprised to see newly single and usually sexy Victoria's Secret angel, Adriana Lima drop the ball, her sleek hair, staunch look maroon gown felt a little drab to us. Fellow bodacious beauty, Kate Upton, also stepped in to the dark side with lashings of lace. Looks like these two models got last year's memo and went with the punk theme. Also in the lineup of fashion faux pas: a far too fru-fru frock on Sandra Lee, a killer colour on Kate Holmes that unfortunately fits all wrong and a very sinewy looking Donatella Versace.

Best Dressed Now, on to the red carpet winners. It's always controversial to name favourites, but we've left the comment section open below so you can throw in your two cents. Herewith my picks of the bunch. I loved that Lupita went with something playful, it was just the right night for it. Koralina Kurkova and Liu Wen looked like royalty stepping out in pieces that would have weighed more than them. I was a fan of the cool approaches from pretty young things, Nicole Richie, Leighton Meester and Emma Stone. I think Rihanna was brave in a white number only the sexy popstar could pull-off. And I can't stop looking at pictures of British beauty Suki Waterhouse. There are a few more in the mix, check out the gallery below.
