Forget Beefsteaks, Moneymakers and cherry tomatoes, little Otto Madsen from Mangere East in Auckland has a tomato to trump the rest.
Four-year-old Otto, described by his mum Lars Madsen as a keen little gardener, was delighted to find one of the fruits among their crops had sprouted "bunny ears".
Lars shared the images with the Herald, explaining her son has been helping her out in the garden and "watching with wonder" as their various crops have grown.
"Otto was suitably delighted when he harvested the pictured animal-shaped tomato, exclaiming that it must be a Bugs Bunny tomato," she said.
While Lars managed to get the photos of Otto's find, she says the unique tomato is no longer intact, having since been nibbled at by the excited pre-schooler.
