Man asks for refund after dud Tinder date

A woman who was taken on a date to Costa Coffee (a British cafe which operates as anathema to romance) was asked for a refund for coffee when she declined to go to his place.

Lauren Crouch wrote about the date on her blog, No Bad Dates, Just Good Stories.

"My first foray back in to dating and it lasts a total of 32 minutes and ends with the most alarming text message I've ever received."

She met the charming fellow on the dating app Tinder. They arranged for coffee and met up outside a tube station. When she suggested an independent cafe across the road, he said it was easier to go to Costa as it "saves crossing."

"Like seriously? I put on eyeliner for this and now I'm in a Costa bloody Coffee," she wrote.

Only half an hour into the date he asked if she'd like to go over to her place for dinner, as he had a food delivery coming. She declined, so he said he had to go to receive the delivery.

Here's what happened next.

"Yes you do decide yourself what to do with your money, and last night you decided to spend it on a coffee. I don't come with a money back guarantee. Dates aren't commodities.

"I actually felt angry, because as you'll know if you read this blog often, I am a massively big believer in women always offering to pay for dates."
