If you love food and want to check out some of the best London has to offer, you need to hit Hackney's Broadway Market on a Saturday morning. It is teeming with fresh produce and all manner of gastronomic delights so it's easy to become overwhelmed by the whole thing. Here are some inside tips: Climpsons coffee is the best place to get your caffeine fix, while Crosstown Doughnuts are the area's original doughey delights. Beyond that, it just depends what mood you're in. If you can't make Saturday, nearby Victoria Park also hosts an excellent food market on Sunday mornings.

SUNDAY ROAST

The Sunday roast is an institution in England and all across the country, restaurants and pubs serve up their own spin on the hearty classic. But not all roasts are created equal. For one of the best Sunday lunches in town, head to The Princess in Shoreditch, which consistently serves up top-notch roasts - including Yorkshire puddings the size of your face. Take your pick from beef, chicken, pork or lamb, all of which come served with potatoes, braised red cabbage, kale, carrots, Yorkshire pud and gravy. All their meat is ethically sourced and they serve a mean nut roast for vegetarians.

COCKTAILS

For a side of Victorian quirk with your cocktail, head to The Last Tuesday Society in London Fields, which is home to The Viktor Wynd Museum of Curiosities, as well as one of the city's best cocktail bars. Each of the cocktails is inspired by the curiosities and artifacts found within the museum and the bar is home to some of the world's rarest alcohol, including several varieties of absinthe. The society hosts several events and workshops, including a weekly Absinthe Hour and weekend classes on mouse taxidermy for beginners. Yes really.

DINNER

For a taste of modern British cuisine at its best, head to Jones and Sons in Dalston, which has made a name for itself as one of London's top restaurants since opening in 2013. Promising "honest British food", Jones and Sons takes some of the country's best produce and serves it with polish. Alternatively, for a more fiery night out, Smoking Goat, in Shoreditch can't be beat. Inspired by the late-night canteens of Bangkok, this is Thai food like you've never tasted before and one of London's best restaurants. They operate a waitlist system so no need to book ahead.
