Censors have postponed the Malaysian release of Jim Carrey's movie Bruce Almighty pending a decision on whether to ban it for trivialising the subject of God.
The comedy had been scheduled to open last week in the mostly Muslim country, but the state-run Film Censorship Board is reconsidering its earlier decision
to approve the movie.
In the film, Carrey's character Bruce - a frustrated television newscaster - is given all of God's powers for a limited time and seizes the opportunity to spice up sex with his girlfriend, get himself news scoops and humiliate a rival at work.
Movies screened in Malaysia must abide by a strict censorship code that forbids sex, graphic violence and provocative handling of topics such as race and religion.
