Review: Graham Reid
Taking a somewhat liberal interpretation of what "greatest hits" means - songs that other people had hits with, some new things and stuff you have never heard - amiable Irishman O'Donnell here offers a double disc of stressless listening.
He opens with John Prine's south of the border I Just Want to Dance With You then makes his way through a mostly familiar MOR selection which includes (inevitably) Danny Boy, Save the Last Dance For Me, There Goes My Everything and ends with How Great Thou Art.
Not having followed O'Donnell's career thus far - he plays the Auckland Town Hall on Saturday with Mary Duff with whom he duets here on Secret Love - there seems little inducement to warrant greater exposure to his gentle, undemanding talent.
Pleasant - and entirely bloodless.
