He said he is able to overcome his stutter when singing by channelling his thoughts.
"The most crucial thing for me ... when you are on that stage, you take yourself to that zone where no one can take you out of it," Craig said.
Craig's victory was also another win for Grammy Award winning coach Seal who now has helped guide the only two Australian winners of The Voice.
The 2012 winner Karise Eden had a Cinderella tale, having spent her teenage years living in more than 20 women's refuges as a ward of the state before being taken in by foster parents.
Craig, 18, touched the hearts of the nation from his audition, when he had trouble saying his own name because of his speech impediment.
Yet his troubles dissolve once he breaks into song.
His debut album More Than A Dream will be released on June 25 and his new single Unconditional is already available on iTunes.
"It could not happen with a more talented and gracious man like Seal," Craig said.
Seal, who performed a duet with Craig during the emotionally charged live final, said he would look back on the evening with fond memories.
He said it was clear to all four judges during the blind auditions that Craig possessed a very special voice, and he would make it internationally.
"This is the highlight of my life," Seal said.
All four judges spun around during Craig's blind audition, when hiss rendition of Josh Groban's Broken Vow made him the instant competition favourite.
He topped the iTunes download charts last week and was a prohibitive $1.03 favourite with online bookmakers to win the finale.
Craig's younger brother Connor, who also won hearts throughout the series, cried when his brother was announced the winner.
Ross, who was coached by Joel Madden, was the first artist eliminated.
Joel said meeting and mentoring artists like the 30-year-old from Kangaroo Valley, south of Sydney, was the reason he believes in The Voice.
"You're the reason I am in Australia doing this show," Joel told Ross.
