The Wiggles have added extra shows in Auckland and Napier with tickets for their upcoming national tour close to selling out.
The colourful quartet of children's entertainers will now perform 17 shows on their Wiggles Fun Tour in June, after initial dates throughout Auckland, Hamilton, Napier, Palmerston North, Dunedin and Christchurch quickly sold out after going on sale yesterday.
Complaints from disappointed parents prompted the group to announce a third concert at Auckland's Bruce Mason Centre on June 1, but that failed to meet demand with tickets again disappearing within minutes.
Further outcry led to the announcement on Thursday night that the Wiggles would squeeze in a fourth show at the Takapuna venue, along with a third show in Napier on June 3, with tickets going on sale today at 10.30am.
Tickets are also still available for two shows in Wellington on June 5, and an afternoon matinee concert in Dunedin on June 7.
Group members Emma Watkins, Lachlan Gillespie, Simon Pryce and Anthony Field will appear along with popular characters Dorothy the Dinosaur, Wags the Dog, Henry the Octopus, Captain Feathersword and their "brand new friend" Shirley Shawn the Unicorn.
